The Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) has agreed to use Kapten I Wayan Dipta stadium on Bali island to take on Vietnam in the third match day of World Cup 2022 qualifiers.
There have been concerns over security in the Bung Karno stadium due to mass protests that are expected during President-elect Joko Wododo’s inauguration in the middle of October, which coincides with the Vietnam-Indonesia match.
Kapten I Wayan Dipta stadium accommodates 23,000, which is much smaller than the 80,000-seat Bung Karno.
Vietnamese defender Trong Hoang played at Kapten I Wayan Dipta when he and his Thanh Hoa teammates faced Bali United in the AFC Cup 2018 qualifiers.
Vietnam will play Indonesia on October 15, five days after the match against Malaysia in Hanoi.
