In the U23 Asian 2020 qualifier’s opening match, Thailand U23 showed an excellent performance and had an overwhelming victory with the result of 4-0 against U23 Indonesia. Supachai stole the show with a brace, the other two goals belong to Shinnaphat and Supachok.
On My Dinh stadium, coach Alexandre Gama’s players completely mastered the game and had ball possession of more than 70%. With this victory, U23 Thailand exerted great pressure on U23 Vietnam in the race to win the first spot thanks to the outstanding goal difference.
Speaking in the press conference, coach Alexandre Gama shared: "I have confirmed that I did not hide anything in U23 Indonesia match. My players competed with 100% of their power. Thailand lost to Indonesia in the U22 Southeast Asia tournament because there were many young players, however, we have summoned our strongest squad to play well in this qualifier.
I affirmed that U23 Thailand always respects all opponents. We always try to win to achieve our goal, not to prove that we are number 1. This win is very important for U23 Thailand".
